Early morning baking

Ever wake up craving a little something from your childhood… Yep, sometimes early morning cinnamon rolls are good. I know, I didn’t make them from scratch but the concept and the cinnamon baking really reminded me of when I would wake up to homemade cinnamon rolls that my mom made for us. She would get up in the middle of the night and get the rolls started… she would go back to bed and get up once the dough had risen. Maybe I should have tried to do that today as the early morning fighting to get back to sleep today didn’t work for me.

My favorite memories of cinnamon roll baking are from Christmas Eve morning. Each year we would deliver cinnamon rolls to family and friends with our Mom on that holiday morning. So many fun times had with friends and family early on Christmas Eve thanks to my mom getting up early and baking. Maybe someday Mackenzie will have fun memories of Mom’s baked goods too.

I do have a cinnamon roll for breakfast today as I made the stick them in the oven kind. It was a morning of little sleeping for me. I’m likely to not have been able to follow a recipe as I also haven’t found my coffee cup yet. Not quite like Mom’s cinnamon rolls but it comes in close.
