Our newest family member arrived unexpectedly early three weeks before her due date. Mackenzie Rose was born at 8 p.m. on Sunday February 23, 2014. She weighed 5 pounds, 13 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. We (my husband Chris and I) ushered her in after a long, long day that started at 1:05am when my water broke. We arrived at the hospital at about 2 a.m. after some frantic packing because the bag we’d planned to bring to the hospital in three weeks wasn’t yet ready.
As soon as she arrived we both knew our hearts were forever hers. Mackenzie’s name came to us one Friday night early in the pregnancy as we sat at the dining table. Despite all the prodding and requests, it was our secret up until the time our little girl was crying and here with us in the delivery room.
Having a little girl is so exciting and new for both Chris and I. The adventures we will have as new parents will be documented here on our new blog as a way to track down and document our fun together.
